Subject: RE: seed dealer opinions? Things I wish.

I wish a plot that included RR corn actually used Glyphosate, not conventional herbicides. Ditto on Liberty and other less conventional herbicides.

I wish a plot wasn't buried in a foot of manure or 300 pounds of N. Those are NOT economical rates though they do grow big corn sometimes.

I wish the seed seller knew how little N a number could get by on economically. One of these years, we are going to get shut down on freely applying N because of Gulf nitrification from runoff (though I believe a significant amount of N in the lower Mississippi comes from fertilized lawn and big city sewage plant effluent) and the price of N being tied to the price of natural gas is already rising far faster than the price of corn. We need the information to be able to select the N efficient numbers.

In the mean time I have to translate the seed book and presume that where it says a number "responds" to added N, that it d.... well better have lots or it will fizzle.
