| Yes, our land cost are much, much less than the corn belt. Cash rent ranges from $30-$70 acre in this area, and yes there is that much range in quality of land. Crop share is 1/3 & 2/3 or 60/40 with varying degrees of expenses picked up by the landowner. It also helps that we have an extremely strong basis, 5 to 25 cents over the board at most times. Plus, we will use that combine to harvest 5 crops a year, so it runs from May through November. Crop land used to sell for $300 to $600 dollars per acre, but it has doubled or more in the past 2 yrs from people buying for recreational use, such as hunting or hobby farming. Wheat is still the dominant crop in this area. | |
