have a good product and don't be afraid to put it up against others. Most farmers plant one or two brands of corn, they know the numbers and how they do. Nothing turns me off more than driving down the road and see a whole test plot of one brand,I have no way to relate to these if I wanted too. As far as getting 100 percent of ones seed business the first year.. It is not going to happen around here. Way too much money involved to be even consider it. Will take five years to get well established.
You need to offer something besides just seed and a news letter. They all do that, need the attention that comes with having your bottom line attached to the farmers. Pick one or two good farmers and make the offer too good to turn down even as far as guaranteeing the results, the neighbors will see how it works out. Once you get your foot in the door don't forget those that got you there.
