Subject: Corn Harvest Pic's

We started harvesting corn this week and I thought I would share some pictures. Getting a good jump on you guys in the corn belt, hoping to capitalize on weather scares in the market. Dekalb and Golden Harvest 100 day corns planted March 20 at a population of 20,000 seeds/A. Would have liked to have started March 1, but we were just too dry. We've only had 9" of rain since March 1 and 7 of the 9 inches came in a three day span; normal rainfall would be 18". Yields are running between 75 and 100 bu/A so far. Normal yield goal in this area would be 100 to 125, but thinking maybe we've been under estimating our potential given yields in a year like this. Only the fifth year of dryland corn production in this area, so we are still learning. Corn was strip-tilled after double crop milo or fallowed after winter wheat.
