I have done it. I bolted a knife section on the stripper plates to cut the stalk as it went by. Seems I also made wood blocks to push the gathering chains out into the gap of the stripper plates. It worked quite well actually, and didn't cost much at all, not like those kits that are listed. I had an old gleaner corn head, but should work on all.
