Cherokee Co., Iowa | Cherokee County, NW Iowa.
It has been very dry and hot around here for several weeks. Started raining during nighttime hours July 31/August 1. Total rain as of 7:00 AM this morning was 3.50 inches. That was the good news, in the evening hours yesterday this area had a strong wind storm with sheets of driving rain. Many acres of corn are flat on the ground, several grain bins with the sides pushed in, at least one steel machine shed south of Cleghorn blown across the road and a 100 year old Church 5 miles south of Cleghorn about as flat as the corn fields.
The rain was fine but not the wind, haven't taken photos yet.
