Subject: Resistance!!!

Alton, Ia
I was told pretty much the same thing, the best new genetics in the pipeline are RR based.

We did one field a few years ago. If I have a choice I will never do it again. Way too much problem with volunteer corn the following year, especially when you get on contours and have pollen drift. You'll end up using select for 100% of your bean acres eventually, and then the select takes away alot of the cost advantages. Plus your neighbors bean fields will need it too.

The biggest problem though is resistance. I feel it is incredibly irresponsible to use it year after year, we are already seeing weeds mutate and become resistant/tolerant. Darwin was right, there is randomness to genetic traits, and the process of selection happens. When we can't kill our tough weeds, then what? I actually think RR back to back should be outlawed, but once again I am 180 degrees off from reality :).
