Flandreau, SD | 16-32 is a Planter that has units for 16 row 30 inch corn and then unlock the other 16 rows for 32 rows 15 inch beans. One rig with some benifits of a drill for early canopy and plant spacing.
Most of the time the narrower the row the higher the population. A range can go from 100,000 to 220,000 seeds per acre varying with soils and row width.
Drilled beans is mostly 7.5 or 10 inch spacing.
Yes you can hydraulicly control the population with different soil types and with gps can be done very easily.

I should have said 16-31 splitter. I guess you could have 32" beans.
