Subject: A stupid question

SW Saskatchewan
Was reading South Dakote crop tour notes over on SF site and noticed Beans were planted in 16-32" rows . Elsewhere, I have heard reference to drilled beans.

Is the same plant population used with diffferent row spacing, or are wide spaced beans for drier areas and seeded with a lower plant population?

Is there any potential for variable spacing distance depending on the moisture characteristics of field position?

Just curious-- and thanks for any education.
