Might be getting things mixed up here from original posts/statements. Is everyone on the same page? Are you MN folks considering that strip till is now considered "conventional tillage"? If so-OK. That's news down here. Otherwise, I think Mr Rehm is saying to INCREASE amounts of some fertilizers will be needed in "conservation tillage" operations. I'll admit though, I didn't quite follow all he wrote that well. Also-I'd assume that it would almost have to be a VRT application situation? He mentions (I guess), that this reduced fertilizer works when soil test readings are very low. I doubt you'd have a whole field that way, unless it's really been neglected. I just think it may be better to have our roots grow out of the "band" & seek nutrients. |
