Subject: RE: small square baler capacity

My .02. I am unsure how fast the new balers run. (strokes per min). In the good old days, they ran 30 per minute. Then about the time the JD 214 came out, they ran them at 60 per minute. The JD 336 I think ran about 80 per minute. But we baled straw many years with those old 30 stroke balers. (wire). and would make a heavy, 60-70 pound bale of straw at 5 stokes per bale. We were baling for .25 per bale. Would stand on the end of the field and watch the plunger go around. Each stroke was a nickle. And yes most of the time we used hooks to handle them. Any time you can handle bales by the string or wires, you have dish rags!!!!
