Subject: Seems like corn on corn works until you hit that unusual year where things don't work

Then , you lose way more than you gained in those other years. It's that way here, this year. Corn on corn used to be a no-no. Just didn't work. Well, there's been more corn on corn in this area in the last 3 years than in the previous 25. And, it seemed to work. then came 2006. Ground was too wet to put nh3 on early-stike one. So after planting we put on all the fert with liquid -had always worked well in the past-well, it hasn't rained since, strike 2. It was cold in May and the ground didn't warm up so the corn was very slow coming up and getting going- too much trash kept the ground colder than bean ground, plus the aleopathic effect of last years corn trash, strike 3. we've got 3-4 ft tall, yellow corn that's burning up since it has no root system and can't get the N fert. Guys will lose more this year vs beans than they gained in those 3 years of corn on corn.
