That is what we are trying to do here. We are useing deep Zone building and then strips on top of that. Now some say I will not go deep every year. We will not either. Two year with slot every 15 inches then just shallow strip. This is our first year and this spring was wet and now is bone dry. Above ground there is no reall difference but maybe the conventional till has alot of brace roots and the deep doesnot. Under groun there is alot of difference in the root. Here is some pics of what I see the first year on deep Zones.
I did have problem staying out of slots with the sprayer the first pass but after that was no problem. Might be different next time. Might be all smoke and mirrors but the roots should speak for them selves this fall.
