Kansas | Few years ago when I was selling seed for Garst, they brought me stuff on a pallet made of compressed straw (couldn't tell if it was wheat/barley/oats). It wasn't made very well by the looks of it but with the right compression/molding or whatever it would have been fine. It is the only one I've ever seen, but I thought the idea was sound and it makes sense as the price of wood to make new pallets has risen quite a bit in just the last few years (like everything else it seems). I was just wondering seeing the post below about wheat straw and seeing a few more people in my area doing wheat bales about other uses for it? One of the locals who is baling his told me he is hauling to Minnesota to be made into something. | |
