in this area, I see a trend away from installing terraces. NRCS in this area believes we can get "acceptable" soil loss (meet "T") by using No-till, cover crops, etc.
To be honest, we probably have shorter slopes than you do - and that may have an impact on whether we can meet "T" without installing terraces.
I would never say terraces do not work. I would say farmers do not like farming over them, and they are one of the more expensive methods to reduce soil loss. That is why I see a movement away from installing terraces "here".
