| What I mean by poor inventory control is this. With the advent of traited hybrids the piles of seed have gone from one per variety to several, as many as a half a dozen or maybe more. If a company guesses wrong and grows a hybrid with traits that it doesn't get sold it becomes a real liability. Imagine a BT corn that has been selling 50,000 units a year. We still grow enough acres to fill that market but suddenly, the market wants RR with CRW. The BT demand falls to 5000 units a year and we can't give the rest away. See the dilema? This is a very real scenario as the move to RR has exploded beyond anyones imagination. I predict that in the future there will be two options per hybrid, RR or Triple stack. Call me crazy, but it is the only way I can see that will give the seed companies a realistic chance to control their inventory. But thats just me talking. Maybe somebody in the business could shed some light on this. Sure would like to hear their perspective. | |
