We have at times seeded corn from the grain bin for set aside, under the pre "freedom to farm" farm bill. We occasionally found ourselves wanting to put set aside where atrazine levels were too high. It made excellent ground cover when seeded at 1 bu per acre. We usually seeded late in May with a fertilizer spreader, disked it in, and knocked down with a disk in early Sep. Can't say it added tilth but there was a lot of organic matter and it was/is cheap. Won't give you seed for next year but I am pretty sure oats won't either. Just a thought. Dave
