Aberdeen MS | Same thing I experienced in the wet. Even on the headlands where the entire fields crop got carried out last fall by the approach, stipped very lumpy. But when the guage wheels of the planter hit them... crumbled nicely. Not mellow ground... but enough to get coverage. Had rain within 2 days after planting. Germination was very good.
Everything got a good drink this morning here. 2.25 inches had some marble sized hail for a few minutes but no wind at that time so no damage to speak of. About half an hour after that system went through, sky got very dark real quick. Went out for a peek and the clouds were just swirling in all directions. No funnels dropped out, but could have at any time.
Forecast is for good chance of more next couple days with heat index of around 100 on Sat. I have a feeling my 400 bales of hay still in the field won't be worthy of feeding by the time it dries out. | |
