Mike, Are you able to use atrazine in your corn herbicide program? I would think that atrazine would control your giant ragweed.
With regards to the johnsongrass, you are exactly right. When I learned about using roundup/glyphosate for johnsongrass control, I was told the best time is at johnsongrass boot stage. In RR corn, you aren't able to wait that long, so you end up burning off the tops, and getting regrowth because the rhizomes are not killed.
In this area, RR soybeans are typically sprayed a little later than RR corn, so I think the glyphosate in RR beans does a little better on the Johnsongrass control. Still, I don't think you get it all in one year.
Your grass herbicides - Fusilade, Assure, Select - have completely different modes of action, so that work better on smaller sized johnsongrass.
