Subject: Re: spraying Oats

I sprayed some at about 4" with 1pt. of Salvan, low-volatile ester, and it burned them fairly good, especially on the light sand hills. Oats just don't seem to have much tolerance for stress. But in my opinion if broadleaves are making their presence, you are best off to get rid of them. A 1/2 pt. probably would have been sufficient especially since the weeds, primarily lambsquarters, were less than 4" tall, and probably would have went a long was to protecting the oats. Just my thoughts.
