Jefferson, SD | Our dealer support is very poor. Only one large JD dealer for the entire state and their focus is mainly construction. On Kauai we have a branch that includes one decent mechanic and his helper, sales guy comes from a neighbor island every Thursday. Problem is he gets a new helper every few months so the person really never gets well trained. Parts dept is on Oahu.
We also have a branch of the Case IH dealer who also is the only one in the state. Until recently they were similar to the JD dealer. Lately however they have made an effort and now have 4 full time mechanice. Service is getting better, they have a parts and sales staff on island.
New Holland dealer is very construction focused. We have to tell them which ag products they have to sell.
We buy all complex items from mainland dealerships because we at least have good support via the phone.
