Yes, my thinking could be way off.  I was thinking of some precious metals that I bought years ago. Just a coin or 2.  I was talking to our accountant one year and was joking about selling and all the profit I would be making.   He said in my tax bracket I could plan on paying about 50% of any gains as taxes.  Maybe land is different or I did not understand correctly.  Thanks for you input.
