| Farming near the river, the eagle population has exploded in the last 10 years. We still see Red Tails, but nowhere near as many as before, none in the fields following the combines. For a few years we had both, the hawks were faster and more agile. The hawk would catch the rabbit, but the eagle would swoop in and take it away. The hawks appear to have given up. I had a pointrow out in the middle of a big bottom last week, 3 rabbits ran out with nowhere to go. It took the eagle a while to settle on one. Edit to add, it's the same way with the buzzards. A dead deer or coon on the road, buzzards better eat fast because the eagle will soon be there to run the riff raff off
