Western Oregon | We had a heat pump installed in a new home and the power company pretty much paid for the system as part of a good cents home. When it got real cold, once or twice a year here for 2-3 days, usually, the heat pump had to be shut off because it would freeze up with condensation. It had a heat strip, only heat for about 900 sqft 3 bed, 2 bath 1 story, no basement. We went that way for the electronic air filter because we all had bad allergies. Windows were never opened, it had a fresh air intake along with scavenged heat from ceiling return. Had a fan system built in to run when either bath fan was turned on, then as timer shut fan off but still started and stopped system off thermostat timer. Was an even heat, never felt when fan came on, either heat or AC. Return in attic, registers in floor. Daughter lives there now, still running without any dealer maint since 1992.
