NW TN, Dyersburg | This was my train of thought & what I did 4 years ago (at retirement) with one farm. The young man has no family involved in farming yet he’s consumed with the desire to farm. He was already farming 100-125 acres, so mine effectively doubled his acres & he was excited. Today he’s up to approximately 800 acres & doing a good job. He’s 28 yrs old & a very good worker. The “reasonable rate” is about 40% of the going rate, that has enabled him to get on his feet. There’s a lot of satisfaction in watching & helping a young determined man start his own farm operation. | |
