Central Nebraska | There are plenty of heat pumps around. Haven't heard too many complaints about the geothermal systems but the air source aren't necessary suited to our climate. In the winter when it stays below freezing you'll most likely be running on emergency heat or auxiliary heat which is powered by gas or electricity so honestly you're better off just going with a conventional furnace at that point. The other thing I notice is that the air coming out is a lot cooler than your traditional furnace. Doesn't mean your house stays cooler, just means the unit runs more. If you're trying to heat and cool a single room then a mini split might be worth looking at. There again, efficiency might become an issue. | |
