That $176 sounds like a credit card authorization charge that will switch to the amount purchased when the transaction processes.  A lot of pumps have a $175 limit since the last round of high fuel prices so the pumps authorize for $175/176 (depends on station) and then correct the amount when transactions are processed at the end of the day.

Will have to check receipt's but I know my pickup will not hold that much.
If you are pumping diesel that is less than 28 gallons at 6.40/gallon.
