I have done it but its a slow process. Burned a white oak stump bout 36”. Took about a week tending once or twice a day so being more attentive helps. Barrel helps to hold heat and create chimney. Its just hard to burn cause heat doesn't go down much. It went better as it burnt a hole in the middle.
