Subject: RE: Swinger 110v auger mover help

Near Intersection of I-35 & I-90 Southern Mn.
I purchased a Swinger some years ago. I was unaware at the time but the company had just been sold. I received one of the "hold over" units from the original company. I used it for a few years but was never completely happy since it "spun out" unless the surface was nice and level.

I traded augers and removed it. We never got around to installing it on the new auger. My helpers are young and healthy and just literally pull the new swing hopper around with a rope. My Swinger used a single motor and control box that ran off of 110VAC. The new company made some changes and went with two motors instead of one and call it the Swinger II. With two motors they were able to make a more correct "arc" for the drive wheels.

Mine has been stored inside my shop for a couple of years. I tried it this Spring with the idea of selling it cheap to someone who might make use of it. I plugged it in but I wasn't able to get the motor to run. I don't know if my problem is in the control box or the motor itself. After harvest I plan on doing a bit more checking.

What I'm getting at is that I might have some "parts" for you. I need to move on from the Swinger one way or the other as its just taking up space in the shop.

From your symptoms, I suspect your problem is in the control box.

My plan is that when I have time I will attempt to decide if my failure is due to the control box or the motor. I believe the motor is 12VDC which I should be able to test with a 12V battery. I have heard that the magnets literally fall out of their holders with some of those 12VDC motors.

I should be able to decide if my control box is sending out 12VDC with the forward and reverse polarities to run the motor.
