SW Iowa | We've run SCH on 200 and 900 JD platforms for a long time and generally get along really well. The guards with sharp points can/will occasionally spear a corn stalk crown or other trash but it usually doesn't cause an issue... newer guards have rounded tips to alleviate that issue (and also allow access to section bolts without removing anything). To me it sounds like you have something else going on. Is it pushing consistently the entire width of head or in one area? Is header control working and seem to be responding to terrain well? Which header height setting are you running? Any change if moving to middle or high setting?
If it's new to you head and/or combine, angle could also be a factor. We currently have 920F on 9510 and run in lowest setting on dial a matic 98% of the time. Rarely push anything unless residue on ground is damp. I believe rear axle on our combine is in the lower set of holes. I'd check over header control and control rod that runs what it head, end springs for float, blow out underside of head and make sure you don't have a bunch of dirt or trash accumulated somewhere. | |
