Brazos Valley | I finally filed 2025 taxes a couple of weeks ago and I had to create a log in with them and download the app etc. What I can tell you is somewhere in that process of creating that account, filing my tax return and paying several thousand dollars in owed taxes in the same day sent my information to spammers. Three days after I paid my taxes and all I start getting calls on my personal cell and the business line from Sequioa Group who is here to help me clear up the liens the IRS filed against me and he was awaiting my call back. Not a recorded call either as each voicemail was a little different and he actually talked to my office manager as she answers every call. She laughed when he mentioned a lien as she knows there’s not a chance we have a tax lien against us as I’ve got a damn good CPA and I pay in full every year but what was funny to me was after he talked to her he quit saying anything about a lien in his voicemails and just that he could help with our recent filings. I don’t know what the scam is but he got my info somewhere at the exact time which I thought was odd. Also, any app on your phone is almost always phishing for data so I’m sure they know more.
