Subject: Burning pine stump in the ground

NW Iowa
I have a few 12 to 16” pine stumps that I would like to get rid of. Seems like if they are cut level to the ground, they will rot out in less than 5 years and if there is anything left, you can chip it out with big ice pick. Anyways I have a few that there is a little dirt around and I would like gone sooner than later. Has anyone ever tried the charcoal and barrel method to burn them out? The center of most of these are rotten so I think it would work pretty quickly?
