I run a tighter concave than that. If not cracking leave it there. It is easier to pull a wet wash cloth through a tight wringer than a open one.  I realize the beans are dry, just an analogy.Changing from working perfectly to not working at all is not a wear threshing item imo. I agree, the belt would be a great start. Hopefully new mechanic can help you.
