Near Intersection of I-35 & I-90 Southern Mn. | I have used Ag Leader's Steady Steer (steering wheel turner) steering system on my Deere 9770 combine for several years. We have also used it with our Hagie STS-12 sprayer.
I agree with others in that the system can work very well. I have always used mine with an Ag Leader GPS 7500 unlocked and subscribed to Terra Star Pro Co. Having a higher end GPS is very helpful and sometimes necessary with any type of assisted steering. Attempting to use Steady Steer or other types of steering may be less than desirable with basic WAAS correction. It depends on the situation and need.
I have a basic WAAS correction system on an old Quadtrack for tillage. It is acceptable there. I use the GPS 7500 with Terra Star Pro C and Ag Leader's SteerCommand Z2 on the planting tractor. I don't feel that WAAS would be acceptable for planting. Others will argue this point.
Remember the Steady Steer system is really just turning the steering wheel for you so the issues of front end weight are important just as they are for steering the tractor manually.
