I remember experimenting with rock beater speeds on the 1660 back when I was still trying to harvest flax. I don't recall if any of the changes made much difference. I've read it both ways where too slow is no good but too fast can also form a "wall of steel" against incoming material. Wouldn't hurt to experiment on this one next harvest.

When I got my first 1480 the dealer siad it was running to fast and slowed it down and that made it worse so I sped it up and that fixed the back feeding problem. Good news is you don't have to worry about it till next year.
Our canola was poor also even the good field weren't good.
