Southern Illinois | Is your seperator belt slipping? Are the rotor bars shot? Are the elephant ears shot? Are the vanes in the cone and rotor cage in good shape and fast?
If it broke a rotor belt I would say the sep belt is not slipping. Is it feeding from the head somewhat even or is it slugging and running big wads through. Is it plugging back to front or in the front? Chopper or beater?
Is the rotor staying in gear when it plugs, some older rotor gearboxes wear so much they will jump in to neutral. They can do that a couple times before the shift fork is bent and you lose a gear.
There is a little window on the idler pully on the sep belt that show what the spring pressure should be. Is the seperator belt running in the bottom of the pulleys and not making good contact.
They really are a pretty simple system but I understand your frustration. I bet someone on here will ask a question or make a suggestion that will fix you up. | |
