Subject: Is it hard on 1066 hydraulic pump to leave on high psi consantly?

I have a 1066 auger tractor that has a hydraulic hopper mover. We have been leaving the hydraulic valve tied back on high PSI all the time. Is that hard on the pump to do that? The pump went out. Is that the reason?
