Subject: RE: grain cart questions - tracks and rear slope angle

In terms of power requirements, I have pulled a tracked Brent 1596 a fair amount with a 305 HP MFWD (NH T8040). We don’t drive super fast like a lot of people do. Maybe 8 mph or so in the field as a top speed.

I think it would pull it at maybe 12 mph loaded on flat ground.

It will pull it up and over our biggest terraces loaded but you sure know it’s back there.

The biggest negative of a tracked cart in my opinion is turning radius. I think the owners manual on mine says you are not supposed to turn in a smaller area than a 120’ radius if I remember right. That is four twelve row combine passes. I turn a lot shorter than that when empty but there is no way I’m ever turning in 24 thirty inch rows.

I am not a fan of single auger carts. I don’t think you’ll ever be happy with one in sunflowers or corn above 18% moisture.
