Some claim there are 45,000 different Christian protestant denominations in the world.   I can't wrap my head around that figure but that's a number I've heard for many years.   It seems that conservative church groups will split if they don't agree on something while liberal denominations will merge.   Lots of different interpretations out there of basically the same book.
