Likely a bank policy and as much as people want to think the bankers and tellers are being nosy, they’re just trying to prevent fraud. I see both sides of it. If someone tells them they’re going to buy gift cards with it, the bank knows likely the customer is being scammed. Or sometimes someone has a “long lost relative that has just passed away and all they have to do to heir their fortune is send $5k” etc.
Exactly, for the most part when tellers ask these questions they are trying to help identify and prevent weak minded customers from being scammed by 3rd parties. |
