I pulled out $10k for a possible equipment purchase last winter. The lead teller asked me what I was going to do with it. He said they have to ask and was very friendly about it. I'm not sure if its the bank's policy or some kind of government regulation. If its my money I don't feel i should have to tell anyone what my plans are for it
