Memphis, TN | I used to struggle with dust in my shop office, There's a lot of traffic bringing in dirt and it was a constant battle to keep it halfway clean. Walk off rugs helped but...... I went online and did some research. I found that a filtered box fan was like 90% (IIRC) as effective as a high end dedicated filter. I took a 20 x20 box fan and pop riveted a couple of aluminum angles to the back side and put in a hepa filter.
It's been running constantly for 5 years now and IT WORKS!. I used to dust weekly, now maybe a light dusting every 6 months. I take the filter out and blow it out and hose off the box fan every couple of months. I have a mini split in the office and the filters stay amazingly clean.
If you have a dusty office I would highly recommend this setup!
