Tractors were over $100,000 40 years ago.

Definitely different eras and we are working new so much harder.

Which tractors were over $100,000 in 1986? Only the biggest tractors would have hit that price point then.

I should see if I can find the quotes somewhere, we priced new 8400 and 9200 tractors in about 1996, so 30 years ago, and IIRC they were $120k and about $116k respectively. Corn was a little over half of today’s price. Can you get a new 250hp MFWD or 320hp 4wd for $220k or so now? Doubt it, since our 350 Steiger was about that price 13 years ago.

Our Steiger Panther 1360 with either Cat or Cummins were $125,000 then. I don't know what the price of the first Challengers 65A's were because we avoided them. I'm just thinking big tractors. Our little 4455's were in the mid $80,000 range then.

4455 tractors didn’t exist yet in 1986, and shouldn’t have been that expensive. I think our 4455 cost in the mid 60’s in 1992 for a ~100 hour rental return with MFWD.

Leased 4760 MFWD duals in 1993 for $21 per hour with 200 hours minimum. When I turned it in, DEERE dealer offered the 4760 to me for $66K and would drop the rent. Brother and I were buying farms and decided could buy used tractor for lot less and we did.
