Wisconsin | 100%. The biggest obstacle to low cost housing is the high level of consumer protection in the legal system in landlord tenant disputes/evictions. Farmers aren't typically good landlords, and it's a simple decision to destroy a marginal house because the rental situation is so tough to navigate in the bottom end. If the sheriff enforced evictions in 30 days from notice, there would be a lot more marginal housing available, and it would be worth maintaining.
There are "affordable housing" options, but those are taxpayer subsidized, not low cost. | |
