Thumb of Michigan
I run a NH5070 (new version of 570 I think) with a Kuhn 15 bale. First thing I'd recommend if you haven't installed, is add some Bale Skiis. This will extremely reduce the 'spring back' of the material (which reduces the rocking back-n-forth of the star wheel).

Mechanical small square bale handling has its quirks for certain and consistent bale length is the biggest, IMHO. I also have installed a stroke counter in my baling tractor, along with using a tractor with a CVT transmission. I have a new driver this year for baling hay (was me), I had him going on his own in 10-15 minutes, with just keeping an eye on the stroke counter and learning to adjust ground speed accordingly. Shifting gears was my method for several years for adjusting the strokes, but as the knee got worse before replacement something had to change for me, so it was the CVT tractor. FWIW, this comes from someone only produces 11-12K idiot bricks a year.

Out west where they have Freeman balers, stroke counters are standard equipment, I think.

Here's what I have, e-mail me if you want to see my method installing:
