Pittsburg, Kansas | We ran two Challenger MT765 tractors with 36 inch belts pulling 36 row 20" planters. Planted in the track. No problem. Might run slightly different down pressure on the closing wheels or one notch deeper depending on the conditions. But planted that way for a number of years without any noticable difference in those rows. You are talking about a heavier tractor though.
Never tried it with our 865.
