Are you sure it’s not crud in the cylinder? That certainly comes and goes. Filler plates in or out?
Had the primary countershaft on my old 9600 strip in the gearbox and had it repaired. Lasted about a year and bent where the splined shaft was welded into the reducer bell for the large diameter hollow shaft. Just replaced it that time. That same replacement shaft and gearbox is now in another newer 9600 I’m running that had the same failure.
It becomes quite noticeable since it’s right behind the cab. The first time I fixed it, I replaced bushings and seals which were quite worn but had never noticed any shaking before the splines stripped out.
If starting and stopping the feederhouse makes a difference I could see that pointing to the clutch and sheave. If not, I think check primary countershaft or u-joint on drive as mentioned already. | |
