Hardly a hissy fit, just making a funny while somewhat making a point. We "regulars" get preached at about soil health an awful lot. You need cover crops and manure and no chemicals and no fungicide, there's always better ways to do all of that, but 90% of that comes from someone with either no skin in the game, a "product" to sell, consulting to sell, or is tight lipped about the actual nuts and bolts of their methods. You utilize covers? Great. What species? Mix? Seeding methos and timing? Termination method and timing? Previous and planned crop? What are you accomplishing with said cover? What's plan B, C, and D if you cant get it terminated via plan A? What happens when the weather doesn't cooperate in either of the extremes?
That last part isn't directed at you personally. On the flipside, I do actually find what you post interesting and do believe there are better ways to do a lot of the things we do. However your usual attitude comes across as a complete know-it-all, and if someone doesn't see it your way 100%, they're just ignorant at best and have something to sell or throwing a hissy fit at worst. Maybe it's simply the result of not having a face to face conversation, idk.
Nobody in this topic said anything about soil health. So your reply comes across as a shot at me.
People call it preachy when they don't like the hard truth that's behind it.
People will call somebody a know-it-all when they can't show the person is wrong.. they're not being arrogant , That's just being accurate
Everything I have ever said on AG talk, I have said in front of crowds of 20 people at a local thing to 350 people at a national event multiple times. On a national stage I told Marion Calmer that stratification isn't that big of a deal. It's almost a normal function of soil. I chuckled he chuckled.
