I think you are very right in your assessment, I know some who had sepsis from neglecting a infected tooth and some have died. Sinus infection can be very serious as it is next to your brain. That what I was told when I had chronic sinus infections , I opted for the surgery to remove polyps and fix a deviated septum. It has worked well since. Don't neglect what your body is telling you.
