What did deregulating the trucking industry gain? All companies used to have a set rate per haul. It guaranteed that owner operators and large freight companies were essentially on the same page. Then we "deregulated" the trucking industry. What has that gotten us? Wave after wave of bankruptcies and companies bringing in the absolute cheapest drivers they can find. Does this mean that monied interests want to keep people dependent on them? Or does it just mean that the quest for lowest cost most market share dollars is just a constant race to the bottom before everything implodes? |
